
On this page we've provided some information on what to do in or around Hatfields Beach. There is so much to do all year round from the active to the sedate. In this short section we are unable to detail anywhere near the full list of activities or attractions available. But rest assured there's plenty to do and see, if you have specific wants or needs and would like to know more contact us and ask we'll be happy to provide you with more detailed information. Sandy Beaches - Lots with white soft sand !!!!!! from two minutes walk to short drives. Hatfields, Orewa, Omaha, Parkiri and list goes on - how many do you want.

Fishing - Various forms of fishing are available in the area Surf casting from various beaches, or rocks, boat fishing in local waters. Charter boats operate from Leigh and Gulf harbour marina.

Boating - Boat launching facilities exist at Hatfields Beach, Gulf Harbour Marina, Leigh and Wenderholm providing access to many scenic islands and sheltered harbours.

Swimming - Safe swimming is available at the many beaches in the area and during the cooler winter, why not relax in the hot pools only a short distance away.

Bush and Coastal Walks - At low tide you can walk along the shore from Hatfields to Waiwera (beach as well as hot pools) It will take about 1 hour, along a rocky coastline, with caves, amazing rock formations and some sheltered sandy bays in between. Also the tidal pools are full of marine life. Orewa and Hatfields beach themselves are beautiful white sand beaches for leisurely walks. Alice Eaves Bush just 5 minutes walk from here. A small Bush reserve with native trees and an abundance of Nikau palm trees.

Regional parks - The nearby regional parks all include varying walks from coastal to bush and across farm paddocks. TiriTiri Matangi Island is a island set aside to preserve native New Zealand bird, trips can be arranged to allow you to get up close to some very rare bird life.

Wenderholm Regional Park - Just North of Waiwera, safe sandy beach, signposted short bush tracks (up to 2 hours) and BBQ and picnic areas.

Shakespear Regional Park - A beautiful Farm Park at the end of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula with walking tracks, safe beaches, BBQ and picnic areas. Tiri Tiri Matangi Island - An unique open sanctuary where some of New Zealand's rarest bird life can be observed in their natural surroundings.

Diving and snorkeling - Goat Island and Tarahangi are both marine reserves located within 30 minutes driving and include excellent snorkeling or diving, with plenty of fish life to observe from large snapper fish to well hidden crayfish. Charter dive trips are available to Little Barrier island, Horn rock and many other local dive spots. Scallop diving is also available when in season.

Horse Riding - Rides through the hill country and bush with nice people and great views. Good Value !!. |

Kayaking - Along Puhoi river from Wenderholm reserve to the historic village of Puhoi. Along the scenic coast, out to islands close to the main coast, or on the Mahurangi river.

Scenic Tours - We can arrange trips to Kauri museum, Goat Island Marine reserve. Puhoi village with its old pub, country tea rooms or cheese factory.
