Imagecamera bloke Hatfields Beach is located just over the hill from Orewa, in a rural setting, along the Hibiscus Coast. It is the gateway to the Sunny Northland of New Zealand and is within easy reach of many places of interest, both historical and scenic. It is only a short drive or bus trip to Auckland and there are many other areas of interest. Below we've provided some information on the region and it's attractions.

 

Hot pools - natural hot springs. Waiwera - 30 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive, spa, slides and private pools.
Parakai - 30 minutes drive large outdoors and indoor pool available.

 

Wenderholm Beach ReserveSandy Beaches
Hatfields Beach - Our local beach with boat launching ramp, safe swimming and good fishing. Only two minutes walk from the Lodge.
Orewa Beach - Not only a beautiful sandy beach but also very close to a variety of shops, cafes,and restaurants.
Red Beach, Omaha, Parkiri - Some of the many others all with safe swimming, fishing or boating options.

 

Wenderholm Regional Park

Regional Parks
Wenderholm Park - A beautiful historic park surrounded in majestic Pohutukawa trees, with sandy beach and boat launching ramp and start of river kayak trip to Puhoi pub. Walking tracks through native bush. Beautiful view over the Hauraki Gulf and its many islands.
Shakespear park. - 365 Ha of coastal farm park at the tip of Whagaparaoa Peninsula. Sheltered bays for safe swimming. Fine walks across open pastures along scenic cliff tops, or through bush remnants.
Tawharanui. - 588ha open farmed pastures, long white sandy beaches, extensive views of the Hauraki Gulf, maori pa sites and marine reserve.

Kawau - A island steeped in history with the old Governor mansion, copper mine and beautiful walks.
Tiritiri Matangi - An unique open sanctuary where some of New Zealand's rarest bird life can be observed in their natural surroundings.

 

Goat fish - Goat Island Marine Reserve

Marine reserves
Goat Island - Great snorkeling or diving feed schools of friendly Scnapper or Blue Mao Maos. Or try the glass bottom boat.
Tawharanui - Great snorkeling or diving, with large picnicing area and beach.

 

Puhoi Village Historic PubPuhoi Village
A short drive north of Hatfields is the Historical country village of Puhoi with old Church, Museum, Store and famous Pub. A great location for lunch and refreshments either at the pub or farm cottage. Just up the road from Puhoi village is the Puhoi Cheese factory with a great selection of meals and cheeses for sale.

 

Warkworth village and Wharf

Orewa township - A range of shops, cafes and restaurants, which can supply all your needs.

Warkworth - Country township, close to satellite station, Honey farm and gateway to Sandspit (ferry to Kawai Island) and Leigh (Goat Island marine reserve). 

 

Gulf Harbour golf course

Whangaporoa Peninsula - This peninsula is home to Whangaporoa township and a number of beautiful beaches, also the gulf harbour marina and award winning international golf course.
